The Sun-Drenched Bloom: Hand-painted Yellow Glaze & Cobalt Cup
Proprietary Jade-like Yellow Glaze | Shizi-Blue Toned Hue | Master Miao Mu | 130ml
In the world of ZENTAOEAST, we celebrate the integrity of both form and material. The Sun-Drenched Bloom is a 130ml cylindrical vessel that captures the soft radiance of a spring morning. Born in the celebrated Pian Yu Tang studio, this cup is a dialogue between a unique, proprietary yellow glaze and the scholarly restraint of Song Dynasty aesthetics.
The Alchemy of Light: Proprietary Yellow Glaze
The canvas of this cup is a Yellow Glaze custom-formulated by Pian Yu Tang to achieve a specific mineral depth.
Tactile Warmth: This glaze is transparent, moist, and deep—achieving a “Jade-like” quality without the use of metallic gilding. It possesses a warm, buttery hue reminiscent of sun-drenched parchment, inviting the spirit to rest.
The Silk Finish: The surface retains an organic “oiliness” characteristic of high-fired mineral glazes, providing a tactile experience that is both substantial and delicate.
The Spirit of the Brush: Song-style “Zhe Zhi”
The visual narrative is hand-painted by the artist Miào Mù (妙沐).
The Motif: Inspired by the “Flat Chrysanthemum” (Biǎn Jú) of the Qing Dynasty, the composition follows the Song Dynasty “Zhe Zhi” (Broken Branch) tradition, emphasizing “Negative Space” (Ma) to allow the porcelain to breathe.
The Shizi-Blue Aesthetic: The cobalt used is carefully calibrated to evoke the **”Shizi Blue” (Stone Blue)**发色 found in historical masterpieces. It produces a grounded, muted azure—a cool, architectural anchor that provides a quiet contrast to the warmth of the yellow background. While achieved through modern precision, it captures the exact “Archaic Temperament” of the ancient stone-blue ores.
Form & Function: The Modern Cylindrical Pillar
The Straight-walled (Zhí Tǒng) form is a masterclass in minimalist geometry. At 130ml, it serves as a generous “Master Cup,” offering a weighted center of gravity and a thin, refined rim that ensures a delicate connection between the tea and the senses.
Curator’s Verdict
“I am captivated by the ‘Visual Pacing’ of this cup. Master Miao Mu has used a blue that feels ‘Grounded’—it doesn’t shout, but instead settles quietly into the sun-colored glaze. By evoking the aesthetic of the ancient Shizi Blue, this piece bridges the gap between dynastic history and modern living. It is a ‘Lifelong Companion’ for those who seek the warmth of the sun and the strength of the stone in their daily ritual.”
