The Mountain’s Verse: Raw African Blackwood Cha He | Tea Leaf Presentation Tray
100% Hand-Polished “Skin-Smooth” Finish | No Lacquer, No Wax | Master Li Wenshu
In the choreography of a tea ritual, the Tea Holder (Chá Hé) serves as the first sanctuary for the dry leaves. It is here that the practitioner pauses to admire the shape and scent of the harvest before it meets the water. At ZENTAOEAST, we present The Mountain’s Verse—a tea holder handcrafted from the world’s densest timber, left in its primal state to reveal the honest spirit of the earth.
The Standard of Purity: 0% Treatment
At ZENTAOEAST, we believe the most profound luxury is a material that requires no disguise.
Absolute Rawness: This tea holder is completely untreated. There is no lacquer, no chemical wax, and no synthetic oils.
Tactile Alchemy: The extraordinary, skin-smooth texture is achieved solely through meticulous physical hand-polishing. Using increasingly fine abrasives and the artisan’s own touch, the wood is buffed until its natural oils rise to the surface, creating a silk-like finish that is as warm and delicate as human skin.
Safety & Integrity: Free from coatings, it is 100% food-safe and eco-friendly. Your tea leaves rest upon a living surface, ensuring their “Qi” remains pure and untainted by chemical odors.
The Foundation: African Blackwood (Ziguangtan)
Sculpted from a single section of African Blackwood, this timber is so dense it is often called “Ironwood.”
Ink-Black Grace: Naturally obsidian with subtle, dark chocolate grains, the wood possesses a stone-like weight. In our “Stone Gray” palette, it represents the silent, enduring strength of the mountains.
The Silhouette: Measuring 15.9cm long, its “boat-like” form tapers from a wide 5.6cm mouth to a focused 3.5cm base, designed to guide your leaves into the teapot with effortless grace.
The Narrative: A Stanza for the Tea Lover
The back of the holder reveals a hidden landscape. Master Li Wenshu has hand-engraved a minimalist Mountain Silhouette and the timeless tea poetry of Tang Dynasty master Bai Juyi:
“Sitting and pouring the clinking water,
Watching the swirling tea dust fry.
No reason to hold this bowl,
But to send it to the tea lover.”
This inscription is a manifesto of our mission: a selfless desire to share a moment of clarity with another soul. To hold this Chá Hé is to read a 1,200-year-old invitation to the Path.
Curator’s Verdict
“The name ‘Tea Holder’ suggests a protector, and that is exactly what this piece is. It protects the integrity of the leaf and the silence of the room. I am moved by the fact that it feels like silk, yet has never touched a drop of lacquer—it is the ‘Temperature of the Hand’ in its most literal form. It is an heirloom designed to wait on your tea table for decades, growing more radiant as it breathes with you.”
