The Hidden Haven: 10-Piece “Taoyuan” Portable Ritual Set
Hand-engraved “Utopia” Teapot | 7-Day Sun-Aged Persimmon Mat | Yu & Xiong Studio
At ZENTAOEAST, we believe that the “Peach Blossom Spring”—the legendary hidden utopia of the East—is not a place you find on a map, but a state of mind you cultivate. The Hidden Haven is a 10-piece travel sanctuary designed to help you reclaim that inner utopia. It is a dialogue between the 5th-century philosophy of Tao Yuanming and the rhythmic, sun-drenched crafts of today.
The Vessel: The Pear-Shaped Sentinel
The centerpiece of this set is a 120ml Pear-shaped Teapot (Lì Xíng Hú), a silhouette favored by scholars for its understated poise and focused pour.
Material: Crafted from a blend of fine pottery and Zisha Engobe (Purple Clay Slip), fired at 1175°C. It possesses a rugged, “stone-like” honesty.
The Poetic Vow: Hand-engraved into the body is the manifesto of the modern hermit:
“Rare are the days of leisure in this life,
As we brew the passing years with a pot of clear tea.
Forget the three thousand troubles of the mundane world;
When the heart is broad, every place is a Taoyuan (Hidden Utopia).”
The Ensemble: Sharing the Stillness
This set is designed for a shared ritual, featuring vessels of balanced proportions:
The Fair-Cup (150ml): A clear glass Gongdao Bei that allows you to admire the radiant amber of our Ancestral Tea harvests. It ensures every cup is filled with the same strength and spirit.
The Guest Cups (50ml): Three hand-finished cups, each etched with the comforting Zen truth: “In this world, there is always an ounce of tea to soothe the three hundred and sixty wearinesses of life.” (人间总有一两茶解我三百六十乏).
The Textile: The Soul of the Persimmon Dye (Shì Rǎn)
Expanding the sanctuary is a 34 x 20 cm hand-woven tea mat, showcasing the nearly lost art of Persimmon Dyeing.
The Invisible Labor: This ancient botanical technique utilizes the tannin-rich juice of unripe green persimmons.
Tempered by the Sun: Each mat must be sun-drenched for at least seven days. The sun acts as the developer; a long exposure creates a deep, earthy mahogany, while a shorter stay yields a vibrant orange-gold.
Individual Soul: Because the final color depends entirely on the intensity of the sun and the specific rhythm of the week it was born, no two mats are ever identical.
A Sanctuary in Your Palm
The entire 10-piece ritual—Teapot, Fair-cup, three Guest Cups, the Persimmon Mat, and more—collapses into a durable 20 x 11.5 x 9 cm PU case. It is designed to turn a hotel room or a quiet garden into your personal “Peach Blossom Spring.”
Curator’s Verdict
“This set is the most complete ‘Spiritual Shelter’ we offer. I am moved by the contrast between the 120ml teapot’s firm bone-strength and the soft, sun-tempered texture of the persimmon-dyed mat. It honors the ‘True Heart’ of Tao Yuanming’s utopia. It is a ‘Lifelong Companion’ that reminds you that wherever you can brew a pot of tea and broaden your heart, you are already home.”
