The Han Bian (Han Dynasty Flat) is a silhouette that speaks of profound stability. With its wide, grounded body and low profile, it represents the “Architecture of Silence” in its most expansive form. This specific vessel is a Proud Masterpiece of Master Liu Huachun, representing the culmination of her forty years of mastery.

The Master’s Hand: Forty Years of Stillness

Master Liu Huachun is a certified National Artist and a Director of the China Zisha Culture Research Association. Having studied under the legendary Provincial Master Bao Yumei, she has spent four decades refining her vision. For this Han Bian, she has re-engineered the classic “Old Antique” prototype to achieve a fuller, more high-tension aesthetic where every proportion is calibrated to absolute visual harmony.

The Craft: A Marathon of Fire

This teapot is 100% fully handcrafted using the traditional “Beaten Cylinder” method. Its journey through the fire is a testament to Master Liu’s discipline:

1. The Foundation: Fired twice in a Gas Push-plate Kiln at a constant 1170°C inside a sealed sagger to ensure a rock-solid, perfectly vitrified structure.

2. The Rule of Purity: Between firings, the vessel must not touch a single drop of water to protect the integrity of the clay surface.

3. The Soul: It then enters the dragon kiln for a final Wood-firing (Chai Shao). The unpredictable dance of pine wood flames and falling ash creates a natural “Yao Bian” (Kiln Change), resulting in a surface that vibrates with unique fire marks and a deep, ancient energy.

The Material: The Sacred “Di Cao Qing”

At ZENTAOEAST, we believe the clay is the spirit of the teapot. The material used here is Original Ore Di Cao Qing—a clay of such rarity that it is found only in the deepest strata of the legendary Shaft No. 4 and No. 5 of Huanglong Mountain.

• The King of Purple Clays: In the hierarchy of Yixing minerals, the most expensive and rarest is Benshan Duan Ni (Benshan Green), which can cost nearly $2,100 per 15kg and ages into a texture like mutton-fat jade. Di Cao Qing ranks second only to this legend, with high-quality aged ore valued between $700 and $1,400 per 15kg.

• The “Soap” Texture: Sourced from the very bottom of the mineral seam, this raw ore is exceptionally “oily.” When kneaded by hand, the raw clay feels remarkably like soap or wax—a sign of its dense mineral and oil content.

• A Living Legacy: Since the Huanglong Mountain mines have long been closed, this teapot is crafted from Master Liu’s private reserve of old-stock ore.

• The Patina: Teapots made from this precious material are famous for their “seasoning” potential. Over years of use, the surface will develop a thick, lustrous “Bao Jiang” (Patina) that is incredibly oily and radiant, transforming the vessel into a piece of living jade.
