Dian Hong Jin Ya: 2026 First Flush Imperial Golden Bud Black Tea
Fengqing Da Ye Zhong | Harvested March 15 | All-Bud Selection | Honey Aroma
“A river of liquid gold; the essence of Yunnan’s spring honey and mountain mist.”
At ZENTAOEAST, we seek the “First Breath” of the season. This Dian Hong Jin Ya (Golden Bud) is an exquisite first flush black tea, harvested on March 15, 2026, from the legendary tea gardens of Fengqing, Yunnan. Produced by the esteemed Fengqing Xiangyun Tea Factory, this tea is a visual and sensory masterpiece—a pure, all-bud selection that represents the peak of Dian Hong craftsmanship.
The Visual: A Sea of Golden Silk
The “Jin Ya” (Golden Bud) is defined by its extraordinary appearance.
All-Bud Selection: Unlike standard black teas, this tea is composed entirely of plump, young tea buds.
Golden Downy Hairs: The buds are densely covered in fine, golden down (trichomes). After the traditional oxidation process, these hairs turn a brilliant amber-gold, giving the dry leaves a silken, needle-like texture that shimmers in the light.
The Terroir: Fengqing—The Home of Dian Hong
Fengqing is the historic birthplace of Yunnan Black Tea.
Da Ye Zhong (Big Leaf Variety): This tea is crafted from the indigenous Fengqing Big Leaf tea trees. Known for their robust mineral content and high polyphenol levels, these trees produce a tea with significant body and a deep, enduring sweetness.
Spring Vitality: Harvested in early spring (Tou Cai), the leaves are packed with amino acids and nutrients stored over the winter, resulting in a cup that is remarkably smooth and free of any harsh bitterness.
The Experience: Honey Fragrance and Sweet Rhythm
Aroma: As soon as hot water meets the buds, a rich, intoxicating Wildflower Honey (Mì Xiāng) aroma fills the air, accompanied by subtle notes of malt and sweet potato.
Palate: The liquor is a bright, clear amber. On the tongue, it is thick and velvety, delivering a “Sweet Rhythm” (Tián Yùn) that lingers long after the sip. It is a comforting, warm tea that offers a gentle energy (Qi) to the body.
Curator’s Verdict
“The Dian Hong Jin Ya from Xiangyun Tea Factory is what I call ‘accessible luxury.’ Its appearance alone—those shimmering golden buds—is enough to captivate any tea lover. But it is the Honey Aroma (Mi Xiang) that truly defines it. This March 15th harvest is exceptionally clean and sweet. It is the perfect morning companion or a dignified tea to share with guests who appreciate the finer details of Yunnan’s terroir.”
