Dian Hong Jin Luo: 2026 Spring Imperial Yunnan Golden Spiral Black Tea

Fengqing Da Ye Zhong | All-Bud Selection | Concentrated Honey Aroma

“The spirit of spring, coiled into a golden spiral; a bold, velvety concentrate of Yunnan’s wild honey.”

At ZENTAOEAST, we explore how craftsmanship transforms the same noble harvest into different sensory worlds. This Dian Hong Jin Luo (Golden Spiral) shares the same elite heritage as our “Golden Bud” (Jin Ya)—harvested on March 15, 2026, in Fengqing, Yunnan. However, while the Jin Ya celebrates elegance, the Jin Luo is a tribute to the power of artisanal shaping—a tea for those who seek a bolder, more concentrated honey-sweet experience.

The Craft: The Art of the Spiral

The “Jin Luo” style requires a more intensive rolling process compared to the delicate Jin Ya:

  • The Golden Coils: Each bud is meticulously hand-rolled into a tight, spiral shape. This “spiralization” breaks down the tea’s cellular structure more thoroughly, allowing the essential oils and juices to coat the leaf surface.

  • Shimmering Texture: The spiral shape protects the delicate golden down (trichomes) during firing, resulting in shimmering, amber-gold pearls that represent the height of Fengqing Xiangyun Tea Factory’s technical mastery.

The Profile: Intensity and Sweetness

If Jin Ya is a soft melody, Jin Luo is a symphony.

  • Concentrated Flavor: Because of the intensive rolling, the “Jin Luo” offers a fuller, thicker body. The soup is a deep, glowing amber, delivering a more robust malty sweetness and a concentrated wildflower honey aroma.

  • The Lingering Rhythm: It is noticeably sweeter and “stickier” on the palate, with a lingering aftertaste that feels velvety and warm. It is the perfect choice for a morning tea or a cold afternoon when you need a comforting, full-bodied cup.

Golden Bud (Jin Ya) vs. Golden Spiral (Jin Luo)

  • Jin Ya (Golden Bud): Focuses on the pristine integrity of the bud. It is soft, ethereal, and elegant—retaining the original freshness of the Da Ye Zhong tree.

  • Jin Luo (Golden Spiral): Focuses on the alchemy of craft. It is bold, concentrated, and intensely sweet—an artisanal interpretation that highlights the richness of Yunnan’s terroir.

Curator’s Verdict

“The Dian Hong Jin Luo is a masterclass in concentration. I am always fascinated by how the simple act of hand-rolling the buds into spirals changes the personality of the tea. While the ‘Golden Bud’ is about visual grace, this ‘Golden Spiral’ is about the intensity of the sip. It hits the palate with a wonderful ‘honey-malt’ punch. For those who enjoy a black tea with a bit more ‘body’ and sweetness, this March 15th harvest is an absolute joy.”
