Wood-Fired Kiln
Wood-Fired Kiln represents one of the oldest ceramic firing traditions in China, using wood—especially pine wood—as the primary fuel instead of modern electric or gas kilns. Unlike contemporary kilns that rely on preset firing programs and standardized temperature curves, traditional wood-fired kilns depend greatly on the experience and intuition of the kiln master, who continuously responds to the changing conditions of fire, atmosphere and temperature throughout the firing process. Through long high-temperature firing and the unique environment created by burning wood, ceramics can develop warm surfaces, rich textures and a distinctive jade-like quality admired in traditional Chinese ceramics.
