Loose-Leaf Pu-erh Tea
Loose-Leaf Pu-erh Tea refers to Pu-erh in its uncompressed form, as opposed to traditional compressed formats such as cakes, bricks and tuocha. After fresh leaves are pan-fired, rolled and sun-dried into maocha, the tea can be enjoyed and sold as loose leaf or further steamed and compressed into different shapes. While compression historically made Pu-erh more compact and easier to transport, loose-leaf Pu-erh has always remained an important form of the Pu-erh Tea.
Loose leaf preserves the appearance and character of the original tea leaves, making it particularly suitable for small-batch, distinct micro-regions and ancient-tree Pu-erh. The uncompressed form also makes the leaves easy to examine and appreciate before brewing. At ZENTAOEAST, our loose-leaf Pu-erh Tea selections include distinctive Pu-erh from micro-regions, chosen for their character, craftsmanship and connection to their place of origin.
